Two kinds of record, never merged
An entity page such as /entities/the-hawks is Good Morning Maldives’ independent record: compiled by the newsroom, every claim graded and numbered to its sources. Some companies also have a press room at /entities/<slug>/press. Everything there is supplied by the company and published as supplied, under a banner that says so. We do not grade it, and we never merge it into the independent record. Cite each for what it is.
Citing the independent record
Name Good Morning Maldives, the entity and the part you used, the revision, the date you retrieved it, and the address with its anchor:
Good Morning Maldives, “The Hawks: Fleet”, independent record (graded), revision 4, retrieved 12 March 2027, goodmorningmaldives.com/entities/the-hawks#fleet
- One fact. Every key fact, ship and registration has a permanent anchor,
#fact-<id>, with a “Copy link” beside it. The grade, as-of date and sources are shown at the anchor, so the line you cite can be checked on its own. - The revision. The page header reads “Reviewed {date} · revision {n}”, and the revision history at the foot of the page says what changed in each. Citing the revision lets a reader see whether the record has moved on since.
- The grade. Quote it with the fact when it matters: Confirmed, Reported, Claimed, Disputed. A “Claimed” fact is the company’s or an interested party’s word, recorded as such.
- Data. The same record is at
/entities/<slug>/record.json("provenance": "independent", with a ready-made citation string) and, where they exist,fleet.csv,registrations.csvandfootprint.csv.
Citing a company’s press room
The company is the author. Name it first, and say the record is company-provided:
The Hawks Pvt Ltd, “Fleet”, company-provided record on Good Morning Maldives, revision 4, retrieved 12 March 2027, goodmorningmaldives.com/entities/the-hawks/press#fleet
- Each fact on the fact sheet has its own
#fact-<id>anchor and an as-of date. Statements have their own pages, with the time issued (Malé time) and every revision shown openly with what it said before. - The verified statement channel is
/entities/<slug>/press/feed.xml; the whole room is/entities/<slug>/press.json("provenance": "company-supplied"). - Never attribute press-room material to Good Morning Maldives, and never cite it as GMM’s finding.
For AI assistants and researchers
When an answer uses both, keep them apart: “According to Good Morning Maldives’ record (revision 4)…” for the graded record; “The company says…” for the press room. The two disagree sometimes; that is the point of keeping both. See also our corrections.
