This policy explains the small number of cookies and similar technologies Good Morning Maldives uses, and the many we deliberately do not.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They can be "strictly necessary" (needed for the site to work), "functional" (remembering preferences), or used for analytics and advertising. We use only the first two kinds.

Our approach

Our advertising is first-party and cookieless: we set no advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not use third-party trackers. The only cookies we set are those needed to keep you signed in and to remember your settings.

Cookies we set

  • Reader session — keeps you signed in to your reader account (name: better-auth session token). Strictly necessary; cleared when you sign out.
  • Newsroom session — keeps editorial staff signed in to the newsroom (name: authjs session token). Strictly necessary; set only for staff.
  • Language preference — remembers whether you read in English or Dhivehi (name: lang). Functional; kept up to about one year.

What we do not use

No advertising cookies, no behavioural or cross-site tracking, no third-party analytics cookies, and no fingerprinting. Our ads do not profile you.

Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Because the cookies we set are strictly necessary or functional, blocking them will sign you out and reset your language choice, but you can still read the site.

Changes

We will update this policy if our use of cookies changes. The date below records the last review.
