Long term
The record as a whole- Trend growth over the past 8 years is 11.6% a year (least-squares fit on the logarithm; R² 0.60, a moderate fit, with sizeable swings around the path).
- Measured end to end, compound growth is 20.9% a year over five years, on 12-month totals.
- The record high (12-month total) was MVR 10.57 billion in the year to Jan 2026; the latest is 2.2% below it.
- The past five years include an exceptional swing in the annual growth rate, so no typical range is quoted.

How to read this series
Revenue. Money received by the government each month: taxes (chiefly goods and services tax, business and property taxes, and import duties), non-tax revenue such as fees, rents and dividends, and grants from abroad. Receipts are lumpy because some taxes fall due in particular months; year-to-date totals are the fair comparison.
- Shown in current prices (nominal). Part of any long-run rise reflects inflation rather than a larger real amount.
- A flow: it measures activity during each month, and months add up to an annual total.
- Recent periods are often revised as fuller data arrive. The version comparison below shows what MMA has changed since this site began keeping copies.
Terms such as percentage points, flows and stocks, and trend growth are explained in How to read the tracker.
