• The latest figure is 1 million bednights for Aug 2026, unchanged on the same month a year earlier.
• In the first 8 months of 2026 the total was 7.2 million bednights, down 3.2% on the same stretch of 2025.
• Over the latest 12 months it came to 10.7 million bednights, down 0.6% on the 12 months before.
• The change on a year earlier averaged +4.5% over the last three months, against −11.9% in the three months before: the year-on-year change has turned positive.

• Trend growth over the past 10 years is 6% a year (least-squares fit on the logarithm; R² 0.31, a loose fit: the series has not followed a steady path, and this rate says little).
• Measured end to end, compound growth is 11.4% a year over five years and 5.1% a year over ten, on 12-month totals.
• The record high (12-month total) was 11 million bednights in the year to Dec 2025; the latest is 2.2% below it.
